Before you come
When are the games?
Whatever is coming up is on the schedule page the moment it is posted, and it goes to the Facebook group first. Games are posted week by week rather than promised forever, so that page is the truth. You can also subscribe to the calendar there once, and every game lands in your calendar by itself.
Do I need to be any good?
No. People turn up at every level, from never-played-organized to former college players. Sides get balanced at the field, so games stay close without anybody getting buried.
Do I have to sign up or RSVP?
Yes, and it is the one thing we ask. A game only goes ahead if enough people have signed up by a few hours before kickoff. If we are short it is called off then and there, and everybody who signed up gets an email, so nobody drives out to a field with six players on it. Your first and last name appear on the list of who is coming, which takes an account to read; your email address is shown to nobody.
Do I need an account to sign up?
No. Your name and email are enough; we email you a link to click and you are on the list. What an account saves you is the weekly toll: signing up becomes one button with no email step, you can read the list of who is coming, join the waiting list when a game is full, and take yourself off a list without hunting for an old email. It takes about a minute to make on the account page.
How much does it cost?
Nothing. No dues, no field fee, no membership.
What should I bring?
Water, a red shirt and a blue shirt. Sides are split red against blue at the field, so you need both. Shin guards are a good idea.
How old do you have to be?
18 and over. There is no referee, no trainer and nobody supervising, so this is not a game for under 18s, and we cannot make an exception, however good they are.
Can I bring a friend?
Yes. The same rules apply to them. They need to be 18 or over and they play at their own risk.
What happens if it rains?
Games get called off for rain or lightning, and that is announced in the Facebook group and stamped on the schedule page. A game is also called off automatically if not enough people have signed up by the deadline, and everybody on the list is emailed.
How do teams get picked?
Evenly, at the field, right before kickoff. One side wears red and the other wears blue. That is the whole method, and it is why you bring both shirts. The keeper rotates each goal so nobody is stuck in net all night.
What if I show up late?
You sub in at the next goal. Try to get there ten minutes early so the game can start on time.
Is there a referee?
No. Everybody calls their own fouls and lives with them. If that sounds like it would bother you, this is probably not your game.
Is anyone responsible if I get hurt?
No. There is no league, no insurance, no ref and no trainer. You play entirely at your own risk. Read the Terms of Use before you play.
